ABOUT US

It all started with a peer-to-peer bike marketplace.

BikUp was created so that bikes gathering dust in garages get ridden more often. Its simple, effective and robust tools won over more and more professional bike rental businesses. Today, we are building BikUp Pro with them.

THE MARKETPLACE

Simple, effective, robust.

Whether you have one bike or a hundred, BikUp was designed for bike rental, and it keeps growing with features suggested by its members. This is the foundation that convinced the first professionals.

01

Rent with no strings attached

Free listings, with no subscription or commitment. Owners stay in control of their availability, prices and terms.

02

Simple availability

Each bike can be switched on or off in a single tap. BikUp never confirms a booking without the owner’s approval.

03

Secure payment

Payments go through our partner Stripe. The transfer is sent automatically four days after each rental.

04

Visible across Europe

Local cyclists and European travellers find bikes on a platform available in several languages.

OUR STORY

From renting between neighbours to software for bike rental businesses.

A few milestones that led us to BikUp Pro.

  1. 🚲The turning pointA peer-to-peer marketplace

BikUp was born from a simple idea: bikes sit idle in garages while cyclists are looking for one for the weekend. We connect the two.

  2. 🤝The beginningSimple, effective, robust

Free listing, availability calendar, messaging, contract and condition report, secure payment with automatic transfer. Just what you need, and it works.

  3. 🌍The communityOver 2,500 members

Local cyclists and travellers from all over Europe rent on BikUp, in several languages.

  4. 🏪The surpriseProfessional rental shops take it up

More and more rental shops are listing their fleet on BikUp. They love how simple it is… and are asking us to go further.

  5. 🛠️TodayBikUp Pro, co-developed with them

Schedule, online booking, a website under their own brand: every screen is designed in workshops with independent rental shops.

For private owners, renting out a bike takes five steps.

Post a listing

01

Free sign-up

An account is created in a few clicks, with its own personal space.

02

The listing

Type of bike, condition, accessories, availability, pick-up location and price: a few minutes are all it takes.

03

The requests

The owner accepts or declines each request, and talks with the renter through secure messaging.

04

The in-person handover

Condition report, signed rental agreement and photos, for complete peace of mind.

05

The transfer

Four days after the rental ends, the payment is sent automatically to the bank account.

TODAY

Professional rental shops have adopted BikUp. Now we are building with them.

They asked us for a schedule, online booking and a website with their own branding. Rather than guess, we design every screen with them in workshops, and the roadmap is open to everyone.

01

Workshops in the shop

We spend time at the counter to understand what a real rental day looks like.

02

Early access testing

Members of the rental operators’ committee try out new screens before anyone else.

03

An open roadmap

Everyone can vote for other people’s ideas or suggest their own.

Questions from private owners

What is BikUp’s commission?

The commission is 5% of the amount set for the rental. It covers the platform’s running costs: hosting, accounting, moderation. For a bike rented at €20 per day, the owner receives €19 per day.

What happens if the bike is damaged?

The rental agreement protects the owner. If there is damage, and in line with this agreement, an amount can be withheld from the deposit.

Is a rental agreement needed?

We recommend signing a rental agreement (BikUp provides one), asking for a copy of an ID document and taking a deposit.

Can I rent out things other than bikes?

Yes: panniers, bike travel cases, tools, trailers for children or for touring. A great way to make idle equipment pay for itself.

How long do I have to reply to a request?

We recommend replying within 48 hours. A quick reply, whether positive or not, improves the listing’s visibility.
